Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation: Housing Ministers of Libya and South Africa Discuss Partnership Prospects in Urban Development
As part of strengthening bilateral relations and consolidating the bonds of joint cooperation between Libya and South Africa, the South African Minister of Human Settlements, Ms. Thembi Simelane, held an expanded meeting with the Minister of Housing and Construction, Eng. Essam Al-Tamouni, and his accompanying delegation to discuss prospects for cooperation in the fields of housing and urban development.
The meeting began with a welcoming speech by Minister Simelane, followed by a comprehensive overview of the structure of the South African Department of Human Settlements and the duties of its various departments, aimed at providing a clear vision of its experience in this sector.
For his part, the Minister of Housing and Construction expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the warm reception, providing an overview of the strategic tasks assigned to the Ministry of Housing and Construction and the plans aimed at developing the country's utilities sector.
The meeting also witnessed the participation of several directors of specialized departments from both sides, who presented a detailed technical overview of their departments' mandates, providing an opportunity to exchange views on best practices followed in both countries.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to intensify communication channels between the Ministry of Housing and Construction and the Research and Studies Department of the South African Department of Human Settlements to serve as a main liaison for exchanging expertise and working to establish practical frameworks that ensure the sustainability of cooperation and the achievement of shared goals in the future.
