The Ministry of Housing and Construction participates in the first meeting of the technical committee for the Arab program for enhancing urban resilience in Algeria
Within the framework of strengthening regional cooperation and developing mechanisms to face crises a delegation from the Ministry of Housing and Construction participated in the first meeting of the technical committee for the Arab program for enhancing urban resilience in reducing the risks of multiple disasters which was hosted by the Algerian capital
This participation came under the mandate of the Minister of Housing and Construction as the delegation was headed by the Director of the Projects Department Engineer Abdullatif Al Khazmi accompanied by a representative from the Ministrys Office of International Cooperation Mr Mohamed Bzik
The meeting reviewed the committees agenda which was approved by the participating Arab country representatives following extensive discussions that led to a number of common understandings where the Sultanate of Oman was chosen to chair the technical committee while the tasks of vice presidency were assigned to both Algeria as the host country and Palestine with the rest of the participants as members of the committee
The sessions dealt with drafting the document of the Arab program for enhancing urban resilience in reducing the risks of multiple disasters and agreeing on its provisions Participants also approved a mechanism to identify national focal points in member states to ensure rapid communication and the effectiveness of joint work in addition to adopting the work plan and terms of reference for the program
The proceedings of the meeting witnessed the presentation of a series of specialized speeches by experts and officials in the field of disaster risk management which focused on the importance of exchanging technical expertise to raise the efficiency of cities in facing natural challenges
