Libyan-Tunisian strategic partnership to enhance cooperation in the fields of housing, reconstruction and smart cities
His Excellency the Minister of Housing and Construction, Engineer Essam Al-Tamouni, paid an official visit to the headquarters of the Ministry of Equipment and Housing in the Republic of Tunisia. He was received by His Excellency the Tunisian Minister, Mr. Salah Al-Zouari, and senior ministry officials in a cordial meeting that reflected the deep historical ties between the two brotherly countries. The delegation accompanying His Excellency the Minister included His Excellency the Ambassador of the State of Libya to the Republic of Tunisia, Mustafa Qaddara, the Commercial Attaché, Youssef Tantoush, and Mr. Abdulmajid Al-Qatrani from the Minister's office.
His Excellency the Tunisian Minister welcomed the visit, praising the level of bilateral cooperation and coordination in the fields of housing, construction, and infrastructure. In turn, His Excellency Minister Essam Al-Tamouni expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and generous hospitality, congratulating his Tunisian counterpart on assuming his new duties and expressing his sincere wishes for his success in his responsibilities.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed vital files and strategic projects within the framework of the "Return to Life" program, most notably the National Housing Program and the development of road networks linking neighboring countries to support transit trade. The discussion also touched upon adopting smart city concepts and opening investment opportunities for Tunisian companies to contribute to the urban development taking place in Libya. His Excellency the Minister conveyed the greetings of His Excellency the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Engineer Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, to the Tunisian leadership, emphasizing the importance of integrated efforts to achieve sustainable development. He also extended a formal invitation to his Tunisian counterpart to visit Tripoli to activate joint agreements and participate in the National Housing Conference scheduled to be held soon in the capital.
The visit concluded with an exchange of commemorative shields representing the cultural heritage of both countries. The Tunisian side presented a shield depicting the ruins of Sidi Bou Said, while the Libyan side presented a shield representing the historic Arch of Marcus Aurelius. Both sides stressed the importance of continuing the exchange of technical and engineering expertise in urban planning to serve the common interests of the two brotherly nations.
