The Ministry of Housing and Construction is following up on the issue of dilapidated buildings; Tripoli directs the formation of a technical committee to address their situation.

As part of the Minister of Housing and Construction's follow-up on the progress of work regarding dilapidated buildings within the Tripoli Central Municipality, a meeting was held today at the headquarters of the National Urban Planning Authority, with the participation of several relevant and specialized entities.

Participants included the Chairman of the National Urban Planning Authority, the Head of the Tripoli Branch, the Head of the Tripoli City Development Authority, the Technical Advisor to the Minister of Housing and Construction, and a number of specialists from relevant agencies.

During the meeting, the current status of dilapidated buildings was reviewed, including their classification and degree of risk, as well as the associated population density. The aim was to develop practical solutions that ensure the safety of citizens and preserve the urban fabric of the area.

It was also emphasized that multiple solutions will be adopted, depending on the condition of each building. These solutions include the maintenance and restoration of buildings that can be rehabilitated in accordance with the urban character and identity of the area, or the complete demolition of damaged buildings and their reconstruction according to approved planning and architectural standards. At the conclusion of the meeting, it was agreed to form a joint technical committee between the National Urban Planning Authority, the Tripoli City Development Authority and a number of relevant bodies to follow up on the targeted sites in the field, study their conditions thoroughly and submit the necessary recommendations to the Ministry of Housing and Reconstruction to take the necessary action regarding them.
