The Minister of Housing and Urban Development discusses obstacles to development in historical and modern cities.
The Minister of Housing and Construction, Engineer Essam Al-Tamouni, met this morning with the head of the Ghadames and Darj Development Authority and the deputy head of the Southern Development Authority, in the presence of the head of the Tripoli Development Authority and the director of the Ghadames Development Office in Tripoli, to follow up on development conditions and address existing challenges.
During the meeting, attendees reviewed the current status of projects within the historical and modern cities, highlighting the most significant financial and technical obstacles hindering implementation. They also discussed the public housing file in detail, focusing on mechanisms for completing the procedures for handing over housing units to eligible recipients, based on the results of the comprehensive survey and in accordance with approved legal requirements and procedures.
The Minister paid particular attention to the city of Ghadames, given its status as a World Heritage Site and its historical and cultural value, which necessitates its preservation and development according to internationally recognized standards for historical cities.
In this context, the Minister stressed the need to resolve existing problems and enhance coordination and cooperation among relevant entities, emphasizing the importance of implementing the agreed-upon measures as soon as possible.
