The Minister of Housing and Construction follows up on the work of the committee for updating indicative building prices in its first meeting

As part of ongoing efforts to regulate the construction sector and control the costs of development projects, His Excellency the Minister of Housing and Construction, Engineer Essam Al-Tammouni, chaired the first periodic meeting of 2026 for the Committee for Reviewing and Updating Indicative Construction Prices (established by Ministerial Decree No. 291). The meeting addressed the latest developments in the committee's work on price updates and was attended by the committee chairman, Undersecretary for Construction Affairs, Mr. Abdel Moneim Mohamed, all committee members, the Minister's advisor, and the Director of his office.

The committee's discussions focused on aligning reference prices with current economic changes. Deliberations included reviewing operational costs and updating the prices of essential materials, primarily concrete and bitumen, as well as conducting a technical analysis of building materials market fluctuations to ensure realistic and fair valuations. The attendees also emphasized governance and transparency standards by affirming the adoption of these prices as a primary reference for implementing public projects, thereby ensuring efficient spending and protecting public funds. This meeting reflects the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development's commitment to striking a balance between quality of execution and approved costs. Through its intensive meetings, the committee aims to issue updated price lists that will contribute to accelerating the pace of work on contracted national projects and avoiding any technical or financial obstacles that implementing companies might face due to price fluctuations.

It is worth noting that the committee is currently continuing its technical work to submit its final, updated report to His Excellency the Minister for approval and implementation across all relevant sectors.
